Cedars of Lebanon
The Cedar tree is the symbol of pride of Lebanon, standing in the middle of its flag. Many civilizations like Phoenicians, Egyptians, Romans and Turks used the cedar trees for their trade, making paper and building their ships. The Cedars are also mentioned in the Bible, holding significant religious importance.
As early as 9000 BC, Baalbek passed through many civilizations: Mesopotamian, Roman, Christian and Islamic worship. The empire of Baalbek is considered as one of Lebanon’s most prized historical treasures, where people can discover the great three temples of Bacchus, Jupiter and Venus, and hear exciting tales about this old city, and how people built such huge structures.
Located in the heart of the Beqaa valley, in a suitable place with good climate for cultivating vineyards, Chateau Ksara is one of the oldest and main wineries in Lebanon, founded in 1857 by Jesuit priests. Aside from the multiple kind of wine, a tour in the caves of the winery is offered for visitors to hear Ksara winery’s story.
